Introduction

Dr. István Barkóczi is a mechanical engineer, founder, owner and the general director of Barkland Winery. First he bought vineyards in Tállya and Tarcal then started to build the centre of the winery estate. That was that point where the winery’s life has begun, he established the winery with his daughter, in Tarcal, in 2015. The first vintage was 2016. Vineyards of Barkland are on the southern part of the Tokaj mountain, where the areas are very sunny and produce large heat sums. Moreover on mediterranean soil the bedrocks are dacite, black stones, andesite which give us great terroirs. An elegant, well-drinkable wine with special mineral character which can be better with bottle aging.
