Introduction
The millennial tradition of viticulture in the Sopron wine region is still valid today. From the wine tasting of the Taschner grandparents to the wine house with a wonderful view of the Schneeberg, a long journey took us. I became an economist in 1995 and started working for my father. Then I took care of the tasks around the bottling and welcomed the guests in the family’s old, two-century-old cellar. Between 1998 and 2000, I completed my degree in viticulture and winemaking at the University of Horticulture, and since then I have managed the 29-hectare vineyard estate. Together with my father and the winery team, we work in the vineyard and cellar, and we are also actively involved in organizing community wine marketing and wine tourism in Sopron. As our vineyards grew, we needed a larger cellar, so in 2004 we built today’s Taschner Wine House, which offers an extraordinary panorama of the city, the surrounding mountains and, in good weather, even the Austrian Schneeberg. The building, known as the Resting Cross, is located on a hillside above the town, according to oenological processes, with a processing, maturing and storage cellar, a warehouse and a bottling plant on the basement level, while a vinotheque and wine tasting room. Thus, viticulture and winemaking works take place in one place, and we can also present the complete portfolio of the winery, wines and champagnes to the guests.
