Great Pinot Noir Tasting
2026. május 09.
14:00 – 22:00
A casual day for lovers of this grape variety, with a special story behind it: the wines poured into the
glasses – and their makers – are all linked by the name of the late Tibor Gál.
Tibor Gál Jr. (Tibor Gál Winery), Sándor Mérész (Etyeki Kúria), Zsolt Liptai (Pannonhalma
Archabbey Winery), László Rábai (Carassia)—four names inextricably linked to the legendary
figure of the late Tibor Gál. Beyond friendships or family ties, some more decisively than others, but
all of them carry on Tibor Gál’s Pinot Noir-based dreams. The fifth name, Péter Jakab (Jakab
Badacsony), stands out from the group because he came into contact with these dreams—still
waiting to be realized—only as an owner. On May 9, his winery in Nemesgulács will host an event
titled “Common Roots – Great Pinot Noir Tasting.”
The day begins at 2:00 p.m. with a professional roundtable discussion and guided tasting featuring
winemakers and winery owners, moderated by Sebestyén Nagy, dipWSET. This will give the
audience a firsthand look at what connects the Pinot Noir vineyards planted across the country’s
various wine regions—and even beyond. The glasses will be filled with older vintages from the five
wineries listed.
From 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the audience can then explore the wineries’ current vintages during a
casual walk-around tasting. During the tasting, Ádám Mede will serve appetisers to be enjoyed
alongside Pinot Noir. Eszter Tóth will provide musical accompaniment with her enchanting voice
and guitar playing.
Jakab Badacsony will be open until 10 p.m. on this day, with an “open bar” featuring Jakab wines
and music by Infragandhi in the evening.
