Introduction
The Etyeki Kúria Winery was founded in 1996 on the Old Hill of Etyek. We owe our reputation to having an innovative mindset, while respecting traditions. A key milestone was pioneering Pinot Noir planting in the Etyek-Buda wine region in 2001. As head winemaker, I believe in an honest approach to the vineyards and wines, combining local know-how with the most recent research. We currently work on 54 hectares in two wine regions: in addition to the trio of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Etyek, Kékfrankos is the flagship variety in the Sopron vineyards. Etyek is a great place, because the vines benefit from fantastic conditions. This is a tremendous advantage which we need to safeguard. As for Sopron, I dare say that among the Hungarian red wine regions, this is where we can make wines with the longest aging potential! - Sándor MÉRÉSZ
