Introduction
Katona Winery Katona Winery Ltd. is a family enterprise founded in autumn 1996. Nowadays we cultivate grapes on 50 hectares with over 49 hectares on the southern shore of Lake of Balaton, in the wine district of Balatonbolgár and since 2006 we also cultivate grapes on 1 hectares area in the wine region of Tokaj-Hegyalja. One of the three Katona siblings who established the enterprise, Ferenc Katona is the professional chief of the winery. He had worked as a main wine specialist for years at BB Wine Corporation. The two other siblings, Tibor and Klára Katona, take major parts in the life of the business too, on the field of administration, finance, marketing and leading the wine cellar and distribution centre in Budafok. With their children gradually becoming more and more involved in the operations of the winery, the new generation is preparing to take over the business and thus preserve the traditions of wine making.
