Introduction

The Mátra region boasts the highest mountain peak in Hungary, where the volcanic soil and the microclimate rich in sunny hours provide an excellent terroir for quality wine production. Abasár, which is an integral part of the Mátra Wine Region and has a breathtaking panorama, is unique in many ways. It is home to the country’s highest vineyard and a national curiosity: a row of hundreds of cellars boasting constant temperatures. Molnár and Sons Winery is a dedicated heir to these traditions. Our winery is a family business located at the foot of the Mátra, in the heart of Abasár. We have been engaged in viticulture and winemaking for several generations. We currently farm 35 hectares, most of which are white vines. Our reductive cellar has a capacity of 4000 hl. Our winery also boasts méthode traditionelle sparkling wine. Our flagship wine is Abasári Olaszrizling, which grows in reputation thanks to its excellent yields every year.
